… “Hey Xiomara how are you doing?, would you like to be part of the makeup team during Rotterdam Fashion Week on the 12th of September … ‘?” Uuuhhh Hell yeah! was my thought when reading this message of make up artist Maico Kemper. This really made my day;the idea that I can express my skills and creativity during one of the greatest fashion events in the fashion industry.
The Rotterdam Fashion Week ‘Salonè Della Moda’, was held at LP2 Las Palmas.
This amazing lifestyle and fashion event was entirely in the hands of the talented creative director Jerry Luxenburg. He really did everything to create a unique event in which both national and international designers and brands were able to present their creations.

Meanwhile backstage all the models were busy with the fitting of all the clothes and shoes while the makeup team was getting instructed by key MUA’s Maico Kemper and Zouhair Benkabbou with the looks for the shows.
We practiced all the techniques and looks that we had to create for
the models. My team was responsible for the make up of the brands Story Dress and Minirine.
The dynamic and chaos was something that I had to get used to at first backstage.
In the heat of the moment, the pressure was also increasing. This for me was a great learning experience. Fortunately, I was surrounded by talented, helpfull and generous make up artists.
All the skincare products that we used where provided by Aicha Pure Beauty.
The Story Dress look was a combination of lines around the eyes and a red mouth. The focus was on the wing eyeliner and tight parallel lines.
For the Minirine make up was the focus again on the eyes in combination with a red eye shadow creation. Blending Blending Blending and another blend was the key essential for this look.
Just before the start of the show all the models were equally in a line-up stand.
Possible adjustments could be made to the make up look and finishing touch.
A lot of press, bloggers and PR girls were running back and forth to get a backstage preview and experience the models and the atmosphere.
I was very happy that I got the opportunity to actually watch the shows and most important my own make up work. With a very proud feeling I was looking at the models, their makeup and of course the amazing clothes in which they walked. All the hard work was rewarded at that time.
The Story Dress clothes all tell their own story on the theme of Vincent Van Gogh.

Minirine clothing is characterized by colorful visuals and unique prints that are inspired by street art and traveling.

Salonè Della Moda gave me the chance to meet a lot of talented, beautiful and inspiring people and the opportunity to acquire a unique experience that I’m really grateful for!
